Since before most modern people could remember, humans have always found a way to just make something work. Whether that be to form language to communicate thoughts that need to be verbally expressed, create a shelter in the case of a lack of basic security or to hunt and gather something to consume for nourishment of the body of its needed nutrients/minerals. All of which are nothing out of the ordinary for a group of people with common needs. So with that, comes a sort of running theme of what to always make a routine of. As a group or (in larger amounts) a society, similar goals will develop and tasks will then need to be completed in order to maintain a functioning system that provides, protects, and sustains. Geographically, each set of individuals across a multitude of locations will most likely present their routines and habits differently. One set of people who may live in the more tropical areas that are abundant in coconuts and plantains will most likely create dishes centered around that particular fruit. Another set who may live in the more colder regions that’s surrounded by ice, snow, water, and fish along with a ton of other aquatic sea life, will essentially have more cousines with that particular food.
Now, aside from what was necessary to survive, humans did not limit themselves to just those specific activities and acts that led them to what they needed to live. Going back to language, during the neanderthal era, some of the first documented “pieces” of art were cave paintings of the animals and of their own species. I bring up language because to them, it was all a way to express and communicate their own experiences from the day to day.
The definition of culture is as read on Google;
“The arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively.”
“The customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or social group.”
Culture is fundamental in the way we shape our lifestyles as it reflects what is to become of all (if not most) people in a society. The majority of issues that come about is a result of a kind of culture that may have been built upon a flawed and problematic foundation. In most cases, the basis for these issues are centered around a culture that is either oppressive, dishonestly exclusive, or ignorant. It is up to the people to work toward a healthy and sustainable culture, as well as to recognize the negatives of existing cultures that prevent progress.
